Dryer repair in Tampa Bay most often comes down to the thermal fuse. It's a safety device that cuts power to the heating element when the dryer overheats — and it's the single most common dryer failure we see. An electric dryer that runs but produces no heat, with no other symptoms, is almost always the thermal fuse or the heating element. Both are inexpensive parts and a one-visit repair.

Gas dryers that run but don't heat fail most often on the igniter. The igniter glows to light the gas, and when it fails, the gas valve never opens. A dryer that heats intermittently is often the same part — the igniter is weakening but hasn't fully failed yet.

Thermal fuse failures have a root cause: restricted airflow. A clogged dryer vent causes the dryer to overheat, which blows the fuse. We replace the fuse and check the vent. If the vent is blocked, we tell you before we leave. Replacing the fuse without clearing the vent means the fuse blows again in three to six months.

We work on all major brands: Samsung, LG, Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, Frigidaire. Gas and electric. The $89 diagnostic applies toward the repair. Twelve-month warranty on parts and labor.

When You Need It /

Signs You Need Dryer Repair

Dryer Runs but Produces No Heat

Electric dryer: blown thermal fuse or burned heating element. Gas dryer: failed igniter. Both are common, inexpensive repairs. A dryer that tumbles normally with no heat is almost always one of these two.

Takes Two or Three Cycles to Dry a Load

Two causes: a clogged dryer vent restricting airflow, or a partially failed heating element producing less heat than it should. We check both. A clogged vent also causes the thermal fuse to eventually blow.

Dryer Won't Start

Door switch failure is most common — the dryer won't run if the door switch doesn't sense the door is closed. The thermal fuse also cuts all power to the motor in some failure modes. We test both.

Makes Loud Squealing or Grinding Noise

A squealing sound during tumbling is a worn drum support roller or felt drum seal. Grinding is often a worn glide or bearing. Both are wear items that fail with age. One-visit repairs.

Dryer Stops Mid-Cycle

Thermal overload cutoff — the dryer is sensing an overheat condition and shutting down. Almost always caused by a blocked vent. The dryer is doing exactly what it should. Clear the vent first.

FAQ /

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my dryer running but not heating?

On an electric dryer: blown thermal fuse or burned heating element. On a gas dryer: failed igniter. The thermal fuse is the most common cause overall. The $89 diagnostic confirms which part has failed.

Why does my dryer take so long to dry clothes?

Two causes: a clogged dryer vent reducing airflow, or a partially failed heating element. A vent that's never been cleaned can restrict airflow enough to double drying time and eventually blow the thermal fuse.

Is dryer repair worth it?

For units under ten years old, most repairs are worth doing. A thermal fuse or heating element repair is $150–$200. A new dryer is $400–$700. For older units with motor failure, we'll give you both numbers.

Do you repair gas dryers?

Yes. Gas and electric dryers, all major brands. Gas dryer igniter replacement is one of the most common repairs we do.
